High Court dismisses WAEC’s stay of execution, orders release of withheld WASSCE results

An Accra High Court has dismissed an application by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) seeking a stay of execution on an earlier ruling that ordered the release of withheld West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.

The High Court dismissed WAEC's application for a stay of execution, ordering the release of withheld WASSCE results for approximately 10,000 candidates. The court ruled in favor of four students representing all affected candidates, stating that WAEC's reasons for withholding the results were unclear and inconsistent. The court also imposed a fine of GHS 5,000 on WAEC.
