Hohe Inflation: Japans Regierung versteigert 150.000 Tonnen Reis

TOKIO. Japan baut die Notreserven ab, schlechte Ernten und ein Tourismus-Boom haben den Preis in die Höhe getrieben.

Due to high inflation and a 71.8% increase in rice prices, the Japanese government is auctioning off 150,000 tons of its rice emergency reserves, potentially releasing another 60,000 tons if needed. This action is a response to poor harvests, a tourism boom, and suspected hoarding, marking the first time the reserve has been used to combat price increases rather than disasters. The auctioned rice should be available by the end of March.
