Horror at 'hideous' modernist replacement for fire ravaged pub as new design is compared to a prison, a power station, and even a radiator

Osborne View, in Fareham, Hampshire, was turned to ash when the building became engulfed by 10ft flames in February of last year.

Plans to replace a fire-damaged historic pub with a modernist building have been approved, despite local criticism likening the design to a prison, power station, or radiator. The £6.5 million project will replace the 100-year-old pub with a glass-fronted structure. Locals are unhappy with the design, considering the original pub a historical asset and criticizing the new design's aesthetics.
