Breeze Liu has been a prominent advocate for victims. But even she struggled to scrub nonconsensual intimate images and videos of herself from the web.
Breeze Liu discovered explicit videos of herself online in 2020, which were shared without her consent and used to create deepfakes, causing significant distress. She struggled to get Microsoft to remove the content hosted on Azure, facing initial inaction and requests for more information. After Liu addressed the issue publicly and with the help of her cofounder Andrea Powell at a conference, Microsoft removed the content. Microsoft acknowledged the delays and has since taken steps to improve their processes.
