Huge fire erupts at industrial complex in Pennsylvania as residents shelter over toxic smoke fears
A massive fire broke out at SPS Technologies, an industrial complex in Pennsylvania, on Monday evening. The fire, which continued to burn into Tuesday, prompted residents to shelter in place due to concerns about toxic smoke. Dramatic video showed the flames raging throughout the night, with 68 fire crews working at the scene. Schools in the area were closed, and officials warned residents to avoid unnecessary activity. Authorities have not yet identified the cause of the fire, but Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro thanked the fire crews for ensuring no lives were lost. The Department of Environmental Protection was monitoring air quality and hazardous materials. As of 7:45 a.m., water was still being used to extinguish the fire.
