During the Trump administration, ICE accessed car tracker data, including license plate reader information from sanctuary cities like Westchester County, NY, potentially circumventing local laws limiting cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. The data, stored in a major database, included information from over 20 cities and was accessible to ICE, CBP, DHS, and law enforcement agencies outside New York state.
