Tufts University PhD student Rumeysa Ozturk was detained by ICE in Somerville and transferred to Louisiana. A judge ordered ICE not to move her without 48 hours notice, but a federal prosecutor stated the order was issued after she was moved. Ozturk, a Fulbright Scholar from Turkey, had her visa status terminated. Tufts officials acknowledged Attorney General Andrea Campbell's concern and reminded the community of the protocol for encountering government officials, including contacting the Tufts University Police Department at 617-627-3030.
