‘It was like she was possessed’: how Q Lazzarus made Silence of the Lambs’ most bewitching song – and then vanished

Q Lazzarus, whose real name was Diane Luckey, was a 1980s singer known for her haunting song *Goodbye Horses*, which became iconic after appearing in the 1991 film *The Silence of the Lambs*. After gaining fame, Lazzarus vanished from the public eye in the mid-1990s, with many believing she was dead. She later worked as a taxi driver and died in 2022. A new documentary, *Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q Lazzarus*, directed by Eva Aridjis Fuentes, explores her life, career, and mysterious disappearance. The film, set to release in 2025, features unheard music from Lazzarus's extensive catalogue and sheds light on her story, which she wanted to tell before her death.
