Jakob Ingebrigtsen's father, Gjert, is on trial in Norway, accused of a 14-year campaign of domestic abuse against Jakob and his younger sister. The abuse allegations surfaced after Jakob and his brothers publicly accused Gjert of physical violence and intimidation in 2023. Gjert, who formerly coached his sons, now coaches Jakob's rival, Narve Gilje Nordas. Jakob, who recently won gold medals at the World Indoor Championships, will testify at the trial, which is expected to last until May 16.
