Prince William has led tributes for Group Captain John ‘Paddy’ Hemingway, one of a number known as ‘The Few’
John "Paddy" Hemingway, the last surviving Battle of Britain pilot and one of "The Few," has died at age 105. Born in Dublin in 1919, he served in the RAF, fought in the Battle of France and the Battle of Britain, downed enemy aircraft, and served in D-Day operations and the Mediterranean Allied Air Forces. Tributes have been led by Prince William, the Prime Minister, and other figures recognizing his courage and service.
