New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency in Suffolk County, Long Island, due to brush fires in the Pine Barrens. The New York National Guard is providing air support, and multiple state agencies are assisting on the ground. Several miles of Sunrise Highway were closed due to fires near Westhampton, where the largest fire is burning near Gabreski Airport.
