Kopali, kopali i się dokopali. Do rzymskiej bazyliki sprzed blisko 2 tys. lat
Archaeologists in London have discovered a significant portion of the first Roman basilica, a public building from around 2000 years ago. The basilica, which served as a venue for political, economic, and administrative decisions, was built around 80 AD, shortly after the Roman invasion of Britain and the establishment of Londinium. During excavations, fragments of a stone wall were found, which formed the foundation of a basilica measuring approximately 40 meters in length, 20 meters in width, and 12 meters in height. Earlier studies had suggested the basilica's location, leading archaeologists to dig test pits under a concrete floor. On their third attempt, they uncovered the correct site. This discovery marks the first such find in 100 years. The basilica was used for about 20 years before being replaced by a larger forum, reflecting the city's rapid growth. The find is significant as it allows people to walk through the public hall and view the remains, offering a unique glimpse into London's Roman past.
