La fin du congé de TPS fait bondir l’inflation à 2,6% en février au Canada

Canadian inflation rose to 2.6% in February, up from 1.9% in January, due to the end of the federal government's GST holiday on certain goods. This increase was higher than economists anticipated and may influence the Bank of Canada's interest rate decisions. While restaurant food prices decreased due to the tax break extending into mid-February, the reintroduction of the tax contributed significantly to overall inflation. Increased demand for travel also played a role. Economists expect further inflation increases in March and anticipate that the trade war with the U.S. will drive prices up, though the end of carbon pricing may provide some relief.
