The UK government has pledged to clean up Lake Windermere, England's largest lake, aiming to allow "only rainwater" to enter. This commitment is part of the Plan for Change, involving over £100 billion in private investment to upgrade water infrastructure, boost the economy, and create jobs. A feasibility study, backed by various organizations, will explore eliminating sewage discharges. United Utilities will invest £200 million in wastewater treatment works and storm overflow reduction. Up to £11 million from water company fines will fund local cleanup projects.
