The Hessian government, led by Minister President Boris Rhein, is implementing a seven-point plan to address drug-related crime and improve conditions in Frankfurt's Bahnhofsviertel. The plan includes increased police presence, intensified prosecution of repeat offenders (including potential jail time for violating stay-away orders), the use of AI for crime prediction, improved mental health services, enhanced addiction prevention and treatment coordination, support for the homeless, and a call for reduced reliance on Frankfurt for nationwide drug support services. The plan responds to a surge of drug users from outside Frankfurt and aims to reduce the Bahnhofsviertel's reputation as a drug hotspot.
