
Tributes are pouring in for Mr Hemingway, one of a number known as ‘The Few’.
John 'Paddy' Hemingway, the last surviving Battle of Britain pilot, died at 105, prompting tributes led by Prince William. Hemingway served in the RAF, fought in the Battle of France and the Battle of Britain, destroyed enemy aircraft, and served as an air fighter controller during D-Day. He was stationed in Italy towards the end of the war and commanded 43 Squadron.
