Mehdi Nemmouche, already sentenced to life imprisonment, delivered an anti-Western and pro-Russian speech at the trial of ISIS jailers, justifying his jihadist engagement. Abdelmalek Tanem and Kaïs Al-Abdallah were convicted for their involvement in the kidnapping and sequestration of Western hostages in Syria, receiving sentences of 22 and 20 years respectively. Oussama Atar and Salim Benghalem, tried in absentia, were sentenced to life imprisonment for their roles in managing hostages and torture.
