Quebec's Health Minister Christian Dubé is open to a public consultation regarding the role of the private sector in healthcare. While not solely his decision, he believes a "real discussion" is needed to reorganize health services. The Collège des médecins du Québec (CMQ) supports such a consultation and proposes regulations for the private sector, including equal pay for equal services and preventing doctors from leaving the public system. Amendments to Bill 83, which mandates new doctors to work in the public system for five years, will incorporate recommendations from past consultations.
