Lester Holt is stepping down as anchor of NBC Nightly News, while Ayman Mohyeldin’s weekend evening show on MSNBC is being canceled as part of a broader programming overhaul. Holt will continue at NBC as the principal anchor of Dateline, while Mohyeldin, along with Katie Phang and Jonathan Capehart, will remain at MSNBC but in different roles. Phang and Capehart’s individual shows are also being canceled, with Capehart set to host a new program. Joy Reid’s show, The ReidOut, was previously canceled, and she will leave the network. MSNBC is shifting focus to ensemble shows, as part of efforts to meet audience needs and address declining ratings.
