Living on the river: 'we used to do the school run by boat from our island houseboat'

Fishing out of the window, paddle boarding and kayaking on the doorstep iving on a houseboat on Taggs Island on the Thames

In 2018, a woman moved with her three children and dog to a three-bedroom houseboat on Taggs Island in the River Thames, seeking a different lifestyle with water activities and a studio for work. They enjoyed the island community and the unique experience of commuting to school by boat. However, the children now want to live closer to their friends due to traffic and proximity to school. Taggs Island, near Hampton Court, has a history dating back to the 1850s and currently houses around 100 residents in houseboats.
