The 16th Irish Long Distance Swimming Awards honored local Galway swimmers and contributors. Paddy McNamara was inducted into the Irish Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame for his dedication and support of open water swimming in Salthill. The Corrib Water Polo swimming club won Best Organised Event for the Corrib Summer Sea Series. Annette, from Kinvara, was recognized for her marathon swimming advice, particularly for Galway Bay swims. Noteworthy open water swims in 2024 included 17 one-way solos and three solo two ways completed for the Galway Bay swim, as well as swims near the Cliffs of Moher and around Inis Mor.
