Despite criticism and debate regarding reliance on U.S. military equipment and potential control over the aircraft, Germany confirms it will proceed with its order of F-35 fighter jets from Lockheed Martin to replace its Tornado fleet. The purchase, costing 10 billion euros for 35 aircraft, aims to maintain its role as a carrier of U.S. nuclear warheads. While other countries are reconsidering their F-35 orders, Germany dismisses concerns about remote deactivation ("kill switch").
