The Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a money laundering case related to the alleged gold smuggling racket. Raids were conducted by the ED and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at multiple locations in Karnataka and Bengaluru. Three agencies – DRI, CBI, and ED – are investigating the case, focusing on the smuggling, the wider network, and the Hawala channels involved. Rao's bail plea was rejected.
