La Municipalidad Provincial de Arequipa (MPA) ha puesto en ejecución coactiva a un total de 22 mil vehículos cuyos propietarios no han cumplido con el pago del impuesto vehicular desde el año 2016 y están a poco de ingresar a una fase de embargo. Dependiendo del tamaño y modelo del auto, camioneta, camión, el monto a pagar oscila entre 400 y 1,400 soles por año.
The Municipalidad Provincial de Arequipa (MPA) has reported that 22,000 vehicles are nearing the embargo phase due to unpaid vehicular taxes since 2016. The MPA has implemented coercive measures, including fines, embargoes, and vehicle capture, for non-compliance with annual tax payments. Owners of new vehicles must declare them and pay 1% of the vehicle's cost annually for three years. Each year, around 24,000 vehicles are registered in Arequipa, with declarations due by February 28, though the deadline has been extended to March 31, 2025, to encourage compliance.
