Muttersprache: Sechs Prozent der Bevölkerung sprechen zu Hause gar kein Deutsch

Die meisten Menschen mit Einwanderungsgeschichte sprechen zu Hause neben ihrer Muttersprache auch Deutsch. Nur ein kleiner Teil verständigt sich ausschließlich in einer anderen Sprache.



In Germany, 6% of the population does not speak German at home, while 77% speak only German. Among the 17% who speak another language alongside German, 25% primarily use German, and 75% use another language. Turkish (14%), Russian (12%), and Arabic (9%) are the most common non-German languages. There are 15.6 million people who mainly speak another language at home. Of the 21.2 million with immigration backgrounds, 22% speak only German at home, and half speak German plus another language. Among these, 20% primarily use German, and 80% use another language. Data shows 75% of immigrants rated their German skills as good or very good.
