An EFCC witness testified that former CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele ignored ex-President Buhari's approved naira redesign, opting for his own hastily executed plan, leading to unnecessary expenditure. Buhari had approved advanced security features and local printing, but Emefiele allegedly contracted a UK firm, De La Rue, for the design and printing, paying them in pounds sterling.
