Planned DWP reforms to Personal Independence Payment (PIP), including stricter eligibility and more face-to-face assessments, raise concerns about potential impacts on Blue Badge eligibility and free bus passes. While the DWP has not confirmed impacts to other departments, existing Blue Badge holders in Scotland (over 235,700) often qualify automatically based on PIP, ADP, CDP and DLA, specifically the higher level of the mobility rate. Application for Blue Badges are made through the local council and can take up to 12 weeks.
