New WH Smith name revealed as iconic high street retailer is sold

WH Smith has agreed to sell its UK high street chain to Modella Capital in a deal valuing it at £76 million and will eventually rebrand under a new name, the company has announced.

WH Smith sold its UK high street chain to Modella Capital for £76 million. The 480 stores and 5,000 staff will rebrand as "TGJones," ending WH Smith's presence on high streets since 1792. The deal excludes WH Smith's travel locations (airports, train stations, hospitals) which will remain WH Smith. The sale allows WH Smith to focus on its growing global travel retail business.
