Newbuild estate abandoned and left half finished as its controversial developer goes bust

Fiorenzo Sauro (pictured), chief of Enzo's Homes Ltd, previously made headlines in 2019 when he was fined £100,000 for chopping down around 70 protected trees.

A newbuild estate in Dover, Kent, has been abandoned half-finished after its developer, Enzo's Homes, went bust. The developer's chief, Sauro, was previously prosecuted for felling a protected 176-year-old redwood tree and polluting a river to develop land. The unfinished White Cliffs Court development has left a "horrendous chalk scar" on the National Landscape, and councillors fear it may become a derelict ghost town. Residents have expressed concerns about the exposed chalk and the project's future.
