A sailor has recalled the nightmare moment the Solong container ship collided with the Stena Immaculate oil tanker - luckily, he managed to escape before the boat went up in flames



A sailor survived a collision between the Stena Immaculate oil tanker and the Solong container ship in the North Sea. The impact resulted in a fire, leaving some sailors with singed hair. The Stena Immaculate, part of the US Tanker Security Programme, was en route from Greece to Hull, while the Solong was sailing to Rotterdam. Fires are still raging.
