Nurses call for safety improvements after Langley hospital attack

The pressure comes after a nurse was recently assaulted at Langley Memorial Hospital, the latest in a string of similar incidents.

The BC Nurses' Union is urging the province to improve hospital staff safety following an attack on a nurse at Langley Memorial Hospital. They cite rising violence, lack of communication regarding potentially violent patients, and concerns about weapons in healthcare settings. The Health Minister calls the incident "terrifying" and states hospital safety is a "top priority," adding weapons are prohibited and the province is working with health authorities and the union to strengthen safety measures.
