Nuts, popcorn and ‘healthy’ crisps face daytime ad ban over salt content

The government is set to ban junk food adverts from appearing on TV between 5:30am and 9pm



Upcoming UK anti-obesity legislation, effective October 2025, will ban junk food advertising on TV between 5:30am and 9pm. Research by Action on Salt and Sugar found that the majority of ready-to-eat popcorn, nuts, and crisps, including some marketed as "healthy," exceed government limits for salt and sugar content and will be classified as junk food under the new law.
