Ontario man arrested after allegedly assaulting intruder who broke into his home

A 44-year-old Ontario man is facing two criminal charges after allegedly assaulting an intruder who had forced their way inside his apartment early Monday morning. According to the Kawartha Lakes Police Service, officers responded to a report of an altercation between two men at a unit on Kent Street in Lindsay, Ont., at approximately 3:20 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 18. Police say the resident had woken up to find another person unexpectedly inside his home. An altercation then followed, during which the intruder sustained serious, life-threatening injuries. The criminal was transported to Ross Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to a Toronto hospital. The resident has since been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon, although he was released with a future court date. The 41-year-old man who entered the apartment was already wanted by police at the time of the incident for unrelated offenses.Following the altercation, he was charged...
