Over 11km of TTC subway will shut down this weekend in huge planned outage

Those looking to take advantage of the final days of tolerable weather in Toronto may want to note a massive transit disruption planned for the coming weekend.The TTC is planning to shut down stretches of its two busiest subway lines for the entire weekend of Saturday, Sept. 27 and Sunday, Sept. 28, with the overlapping closures on Line 1 and Line 2 combining for a whopping 11.25 kilometres of track.Here's what you need to know about this weekend's transit disruptions.Line 1 (Yonge-University)Commuters relying on the Yonge stretch of Line 1 will be hardest hit by the planned outages, with the TTC to shut down approximately 8.5 kilometres of track spanning from Eglinton Station all the way up to the line's northern terminus at Finch.Shuttle buses will cover the gap in service, which covers Eglinton, Lawrence, York Mills, Sheppard-Yonge, North York Centre, and Finch stations.All stations along the closed stretch of subway will remain open for commuters to purchase fares an...
