In January 2025, Nigerian telecom mobile number portability increased by 190% with 8,708 subscribers switching networks, according to the NCC. 9mobile experienced the highest losses (6,716 subscribers), while MTN, Airtel, and Globacom gained subscribers through porting. The surge in porting is attributed to poor network quality, competitive pricing, and improved customer service. Overall active mobile subscriptions rose to 169.3 million.
