Partition, a male invention, significantly impacted women, revolutionary events, and collective memory. Examining women's experiences helps to understand the enduring trauma of partition, which divided not only the island of Ireland but also memory. Partition resulted in a refugee crisis and structural violence, often excluding female experiences and northern narratives from dominant historical discourses. Despite its significant impact, partition has been an "uncomfortable" topic with limited historical analysis, though some female historians, like Maureen Wall, provided early insights.
