Patients' anger at latest NHS dentist prices hikes as 40,000 people sign Mirror petition
Patients are angered by rising NHS dentist prices, prompting a Mirror petition signed by 40,000 people. The British Dental Association (BDA) says families will pay more while the government pays less due to a stagnant £3 billion NHS dental budget, leading to a £1 billion real-terms cut and affecting access for millions. The Mirror launched a Dentists for All campaign and a petition with the BDA and 38 Degrees, demanding the price hike be scrapped and alternative funding be found. Labour vows to fix the dental contract, but the BDA says lack of funding has led to no progress and only a limited number of extra urgent appointments will be available.
