Paul O’Connell pays tribute to departing Ireland trio of former team

Ireland forwards coach says the trio’s attitudes have been exemplary and a great help to younger players

Paul O’Connell, Ireland’s forwards coach, paid tribute to departing team-mates Cian Healy, Peter O’Mahony, and Sean Murray, who are each aiming for a sixth championship. The trio, along with O’Connell, was part of Ireland’s 2014 Six Nations triumph and the 2015 title retention. With a combined 371 caps and five championship wins, including two Grand Slams, they are Ireland’s most decorated players. O’Connell praised their exemplary attitudes and their positive influence on younger players. The trio will play their final home game for Ireland against France at the Aviva Stadium, following their joint retirement after the Six Nations finale in Rome. They participated in Ireland’s open training session despite injuries, with O’Mahony and Murray in particular showing their dedication.
