Penalty upheld for Ontario minor hockey team handed 14 losses over paperwork error

The parents of a minor hockey team in Ontario attempting to overturn a severe penalty imposed on the team over a paperwork error have lost their appeal.

The Mississauga Rattlers Under 16 boys Double-A team incurred a 14-loss penalty due to a paperwork error involving an unregistered trainer. The team's registrar acknowledged the mistake, and the parents appealed to the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF), but the penalty was upheld. The GTHL cited Rule 9.11, prohibiting non-registered individuals on the bench, and the error didn't meet the 'understandable mistake' provision. Despite the penalty, the team qualified for the playoffs, and the parents expressed disappointment but remained focused on the game.
