Perplexity has launched its freemium 'Deep Research' tool, following OpenAI and Google in offering such a feature. The tool is designed for expert-level tasks across fields like finance and marketing, available on the web and soon on mobile and desktop apps. It generates detailed reports quickly, under three minutes, with a free tier for casual users and a Pro subscription for unlimited access. While it outperforms competitors in speed, OpenAI's version scores higher in analytical depth. The tool's effectiveness for enterprise versus casual use is highlighted, alongside potential limitations in creativity and source reliance.
