PETER HOSKIN: It's a backstabbers' paradise, as Assassin's Creed slips like a ninja into the shadows of feudal Japan

PETER HOSKIN: At last. After almost two decades of historical backstabbing - and a four-month delay for this particular entry - the Assassin's Creed series has finally made it to feudal Japan.

Assassin's Creed: Shadows, set in feudal Japan, is a "backstabbers' paradise" and a "supreme" addition to the series, despite other games having explored similar territory. It features two characters, Naoe, a ninja, and Yasuke, a samurai, and includes innovations like the ability to extinguish lights. The game's recreation of Japan is praised, although the story is somewhat disjointed. The review also mentions Xenoblade Chronicles X.
