Secular Franciscan Order donated property, land and other assets to the trust now mired in turmoil
The Peter McVerry Trust, already facing financial difficulties, received Assisi House, a former nursing home and surrounding lands valued at €4 million, as a donation from the Secular Franciscan Order in 2022. The Order, unable to afford renovations, hoped the Trust would continue its tradition of service, but Assisi House remains dormant, and the Trust has not disclosed its plans for the property, leading to disappointment and anger among those familiar with Assisi House's history.
