Pope Francis holds Vatican meeting from hospital bed after he 'rested well all night'

The Vatican said the 88-year-old pontiff approved the canonisation of two new saints, following a “slight improvement” in his condition”.

Pope Francis, 88, remains in critical but stable condition in Rome's Gemelli hospital, where he is being treated for pneumonia. He has experienced no new respiratory crises, and his blood levels are stable. A CT scan was performed for monitoring. While hospitalized, he has approved the canonization of two new saints and kept up with Church matters, including contacting Gaza's Catholic parish. Prayers have been held in St Peter's Square for his recovery.
