Pope Francis, hospitalized for a severe respiratory condition including pneumonia, thanked Catholics and others for their prayers in an audio message released by the Holy See. The 88-year-old pontiff's message was broadcast in St. Peter's Square where people have gathered to pray for him during his extended stay. His hospitalization has coincided with Lent, and Cardinal Angelo de Donatis read a homily written by the Pope during a Mass.
