Prison bosses inundated with complaints after transgender killer let out of jail for cosmetic surgery

Alex Stewart, a transgender killer serving life for murder, was escorted out of Greenock prison in 2019 for elective cosmetic surgery. This decision sparked a barrage of complaints from prison bosses, with many expressing outrage over allowing a murderer to leave for a purely cosmetic procedure. Stewart, born Alan Baker, transitioned in 2016 after being jailed for murdering John Weir. The Scottish Prison Service declined to comment on the matter.
