Ambasadorowie państw członkowskich przy UE dali w środę rano zielone światło dla 16. pakietu sankcji UE na Rosję. Obejmie on kolejne sektory rosyjskiej gospodarki, a także tzw. flotę cieni, która transportuje ropę z Rosji. W przyjęciu sankcji ważną rolę odegrała Polska.
Poland played a key role in securing EU approval for the 16th sanctions package against Russia, including targeting the "shadow fleet" used to bypass sanctions and suspending concessions for certain Russian media. The package also added more individuals to the sanctions list, prohibiting their entry into the EU and freezing their assets. Additionally, the EU expanded sanctions to target Belarus for supporting Russia's efforts to circumvent restrictions. The 15th sanctions package, approved in December 2022, was the first to impose direct sanctions on China. The 16th package, agreed upon by EU foreign ministers in Brussels, imposes restrictions on 84 entities involved in supporting Russia's war in Ukraine, including those involved in hybrid attacks in Europe and the use of the shadow fleet to bypass sanctions.
