BSW requests for a recount were rejected by both the Federal Electoral Committee and the Federal Constitutional Court. The old Bundestag will reconvene to vote on the financial package. Formal coalition talks between the Union and SPD have commenced. Sahra Wagenknecht announced the BSW's abstention in the Bundesrat on related legislation and affirmed her continued leadership of the party.
