Architect Ricardo Scofidio, known for transforming New York's abandoned High Line railway into a popular elevated park, has died at the age of 89. Scofidio, along with his wife Liz Diller, founded the architecture firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro, which significantly impacted America's cultural landscape by creating innovative public spaces, including university buildings, museums, and the High Line, which became a model for urban renewal and public engagement. He also taught architecture at Cooper Union.
