A Romanian man, Ioan Naftaila, was sentenced to six months in prison in France for driving the wrong way on a highway, causing a serious accident. He was driving without a valid license and under the influence of alcohol, leading to a crash involving two cars and a family with a 12-year-old child, who was traumatized. Naftaila was speeding and did not stop after the accident. His employer testified on his behalf, highlighting his long service and dedication. Despite this, the court imposed a significant sentence, including a fine of €1,250 and a one-year driving ban.
