Royal Navy shadow Russian 'spy' ships as they voyage through British waters

Minehunter HMS Cattistock and a Wildcat helicopter were deployed to escort survey ship Admiral Vladimirskiy during its voyage, the Royal Navy said.



The Royal Navy shadowed multiple Russian ships transiting through British waters in March. HMS Cattistock and a Wildcat helicopter monitored the survey ship Admiral Vladimirskiy, while HMS Somerset and RFA Tidesurge escorted the landing ship RFN Alexander Otrakovsky and merchant vessel MV Ascalon. HMS Cattistock and HMS Somerset also escorted Russian destroyer Severomorsk and landing ship Aleksandr Shabalin days earlier. The Royal Navy emphasized its readiness and commitment to UK security at sea.
